Events: As of Nov. 21, 2011

The Comfest attendees in June of 2011 received our booth fairly well. Lots of interesting people stopped by. This year we has a few stacks of videos that were produced as primers on a small selection of topical areas. Haven't heard back from anyone yet. Many were neophytes who were interested in knowing more. Some were fairly well informed and wanted to know more. Only a few true believers in faith based economics. A number of graduate students in a variety of fields, two local professors in economics who were receptive, one retired union crane operator who was visiting his daughter, though he now lives in Ecuador, two former school teachers who are now doing work on documentaries, and several long time friends. At this point we are still working on adapting the community exchange cooperative programming. You can contact us via economics@arawakcity.org We would like to hear from you. thanks.

Regarding some local campaigns relative to financial literacy, which is deeply absent at the level of community advocacy organizations, effectively where this sort of literacy should be expected to be of central importance. Truth be known, it is at this level where participants tend to favor camp fire songs, kumbaya chanting, and full spectrum faith based anti-economics. I'm entitled to be a bit sarcastic, since I have been doing this sort of advocacy for a very long time without much indication of an awakening. For now.

Have been going to recent local demonstrations here, more or less in vested in the "Occupy..." meme. Laying out our flyers for people to pick up. The local situation seems to be in the process of being stifled by some of the same old, same people with their still tightly held assumptions of moral superiority without much in the way practical or economic insight into the effects of their own endless gaming and posing. Glad that most of the Occupy efforts succeeded to the level that they have. Presented a proposal to the Ohio Green Party to provide briefing support for the Ohio Green Party candidates,, "Occupy The Fiscal Debate." Whether it is actually going to happen is another process. The large majority of Ohio Green Party participants are politicos or wannabes. I hope that they are not on a fast track to more of the same, and it sure does seem like that is the way the situation is sliding. All the US Green Party has to do is show up and to understand the basics of how "another economy is possible," and then to speak with some confidence, and they will receive significant attention in the way of votes just by not running various fiscal confidence games.
